USA Hockey and its twelve districts provide player development opportunities for females at the affiliate, district, regional, and national levels throughout the year.  USA Hockey hosts 3 National Player Development Camps for girls ages 15, 16, and 17 (‘02, ‘03, and ‘04 birth years).

During the course of the 2018-2019 season a committee of college coaches evaluated the Massachusetts ’02,’03,’04, girls age group.  From these evaluations the top female players in each age group were invited to the New England Sports Center in Marlborough to participate in the Massachusetts Hockey 2019 Girls CCM High Performance Festival March 15-17th.  While participating in the 3 day Festival of skills, 3x3, and full-ice games evaluators were looking to select the top’02, ’03, & ’04 players to attend USA Hockey’s National Development Camps.

The goal of USA Hockey’s 3 National Development Camps is to identify the players that will participate in Girls Under-18 National Festivals.

1.      The goal of the 2019 Girls Under-18 National Festival August 5th-11th in Lake Placid, NY is to select the player roster for the USA vs Canada Under-18 three-game series that will follow in Lake Placid August 12th-18th.  This Festival is primarily for 2002 and 2003 birth years.

2.      The goal of the USA Hockey Girls 16/17 National Development Camp at St Cloud State University Herb Brooks Hockey Center is to prepare the best ’02 & ’03s in the US to compete for a spot at this year’s Girls Under-18 National Festival in Lake Placid, NY.

3.      The goal of the USA Hockey Girls 15 National Development Camp at St Cloud State University Herb Brooks Hockey Center is to prepare the best ‘04s in the US to compete for a spot at next year’s Girls Under-18 National Festival.

6 Boston Advantage Girls have been selected to National & Regional Development Camps this summer to begin the process towards attaining a roster spot on the US Under-18 National Team.

·        2002 Katherine “Katie” Pyne selected as 1 of 3 Massachusetts Forwards and 1 of 40 US Forwards to attend the 2019 Girls Under-18 National Festival held in Lake Placid, N.Y. August 5th-11th.

·        2003 Kate Ham selected as 1 of 8 Massachusetts Forwards and 1 of 80 US Forwards to attend the Girls 16/17 National Festival held in St Cloud State University Herb Brooks Hockey Center.  Kate will be looking to secure one of the remaining 12 Forward roster spots and join Katie Pyne at the Under-18 National Festival in Lake Placid, NY in August.

·        2004 Grace Fiorella selected as 1 of 8 Massachusetts Defense and 1 of 72 US Defense selected to attend the Girls 16/17 National Festival held in St Cloud State University Herb Brooks Hockey Center.

·        2004s Kate Flynn, Meghan Gambino, and Brooke Manning are part of a group of 20 Massachusetts Forwards and 120 US Forwards selected to attend the Girls 16/17 National Festival held in St Cloud State University Herb Brooks Hockey Center.

The work is just beginning for these girls.  Mass. Hockey is investing in the preparation of these 6 Boston Advantage players by hosting them at the 2019 Massachusetts Hockey Select Camp at Boston University June 7th – 9th.  This camp is by invitation only and is for players who were selected to USA Hockey’s National Camps.  Wish them luck when you see them participating in Lovell Walk-on-Skills and Summer Development Camps.
