4-1 Decisive Win for 2000 Squad
Traveling south 2 hours to play the Springfield Falcons Elite team on Saturday might have given the Boston Advantage 2000's 'bus legs', but not on this day. Focused and determined after a strong week of practices, the 00' Advantage had one thing in mind, and that was to come home with a win under their belts. That is exactly what they got! With a very strong game by net-minder Johnny Driscoll aka- Dris, the 00' Advantage were able to keep the puck moving forward and out of their defensive zone. The D core played their best game of the year, and the forwards, lead by Jeremy Souza who netted two goals, played exceptionally well. With a solid 4-1 victory the 00's look forward to another strong week of practices. Congrats 2000 Advantage! ________________________________________
Weekend Split for 99s in Vermont
The 1999s traveled to Vermont this past weekend to take on a very strong Green Mountain Glades team. Shortmanned because of injuries and sicknesses, the Advantage played strong in a loss on Saturday and a win on Sunday. It was an exciting weekend of hockey considering the ice time everyone got as well as playing at Norwich University's Kreitzberg Arena. The D was held down by iron men Zach Sylvia & Tommy Kornack who displayed their endurance and ability to move the puck. The forwards were led by Matt Egan, Jack Gleason, Charlie Reid, John Higgins, Anthony Paull and Ryan Lincoln. All played hard and executed what they have learned. The passing was the best we have seen on this team this year and the defensive zone coverage was awesome. The kids then had some fun unwinding at the hotel. It was a great experience all around, especially playing at a college facility. Congrats to the 99s who represented our program very well in Vermont! _____________________________________________
Midget Minors Battle to a 3-3 Tie With Falcons
After going 5-1 in their last 6 games the U16 Advantage headed south to play the Springfield Falcons Saturday for their 2nd game against the Falcons in just a few weeks. Beating the Falcons 3-2 at their home barn three weeks ago the Advantage Midget Minors felt comfortable with getting a win in Connecticut, maybe too comfortable. Starting out of the gates slow the Advantage found themselves behind early, fighting to get a shot on net for the first 10 minutes of the game. Down 1-0 for most of the period the Advantage finally started to get some offense going, and rallied for a goal to tie it up at the end of one. Tight checking and sound hockey by the Falcons kept them in the Advantage zone for most of the game, but solid goalkeeping by Austn Miller allowed the Advantage to come out with a 3-3 tie on the road.
The squad is looking forward to a great trip out to the Shattuck St Mary's Midget Minor Invitational out in Faribault, MN this upcoming weekend. Good luck! _______________________________________
Make It 2! Harris Commits to Maine Harris joins Brown at the University of Maine in 2011
The Boston Advantage is excited to announce that Brian Harris has accepted a full scholarship offer to attend the University of Maine in 2011.
The offensive minded defenseman has a terrific skill set, sees the ice extremely well, makes plays that only someone with a high hockey intellect can make and is tenacious when defending. He is reminiscent of Bret Tyler.
In 47 games so far he has 16 goals & 37 assists. Brian worked hard to develop and we are extremely happy to see him get what he deserves.
"I am ecstatic! I wasn't expecting what they offered. I enjoyed meeting the coaching staff, players and support staff when I visited this week. It was everything Tim told me it was. Its a dream come true."
Tim Lovell "couldn't be happier for Brian and his family. I am excited for the Maine program. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Maine and I know its a great spot for Brian. He has worked hard and it has payed off. They will use him for what he is and I see him having a good solid career. He is a great kid!"
Brian is a junior in high school who will play juniors next year before going to the Orono campus.
"He has been a loyal hardworking kid that has put everything together to be a dominant player in the Tier I Elite Hockey League as well as a top player among his peers." Commented head coach Joe Lovell. "He is a coachable kid who is fun to be around. I have seen him mature into a highly skilled offensive defensemen who is tough to play against."
"I really want to thank Tim, Joe and Joe. They have supported me, coached me and pushed me. I grew up as a member of the Advantage and wouldn't have it any other way. They worked extremely hard to put me in this position. They are rare in the fact that they work so hard for all of their players and how much they genuinely care about us. Thanks so much!"
